Explore the joy of slow stitching in this relaxing embroidery workshop with textile artist Pauline Franklyn, hosted at Sunday Studio, Melbourne.
In Wildwood Stitch, Pauline guides you through a creative journey that blends the charm of traditional block printing with the tactile beauty of hand embroidery. You’ll work onto beautifully block-printed woven cotton fabrics, selecting your preferred background before bringing the design to life with colour and texture.
Using Pauline’s exquisite collection of hand-dyed wool yarns, you’ll learn and practise a range of versatile embroidery stitches, including backstitch, lazy daisy, French knots, chain stitch, and fly stitch. Along the way, Pauline will share tips on colour selection, texture, and composition, encouraging playful experimentation and personal expression. She will also demonstrate the block-printing process, offering inspiration for those who’d like to explore it further at home.
Your unique embroidered piece can be framed as a small artwork or transformed into a functional item such as a needle case, pocket, or decorative insert for cushion or bag. You will take home a personalised collection of yarns to complete your Wildwood stitch embroidery.
This workshop is suitable for beginners and experienced stitchers alike and offers a morning of mindful making, colour play, and gentle creativity—perfect for slowing down, learning new skills, and enjoying the supportive atmosphere of the studio.
All materials will be provided and take home your own colour palette of wools to finish.
